Individual Therapy
Individual therapy takes place in a confidential space to allow for safe exploration of your story and unique needs. The therapy process itself is collaborative, meaning we work together to process your thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and social functioning. In our work together, you decide what you want to focus on and to what degree, and I come alongside you to help reflect and process your experience in view of your goals. My approach is directive in that along with active listening, I compassionately work with you to explore, deconstruct and challenge unhelpful patterns of thought, feeling and behaviour. I am committed to working with you from a holistic, trauma-informed, culturally sensitive lens, upholding your story through your cultural context, ethnicity, family system, belief framework, and meaning-making process.
Areas of focus: anxiety, anger-management, depression, grief, relationship challenges, trauma and PTSD, life transitions and spiritual growth.
Methods of treatment: Narrative, Emotionally-Focused, Cognitive Behavioural, Dialectic Behavioural and Solution-Focused Therapy.
Couples Therapy
Relationships can be hard. Moments of disconnection can leave us feeling hurt and misunderstood. Drawing from an experientially focused framework based on attachment theory, our work together will focus on creating new, safe emotional experiences of connection. When attachment bonds are strengthened, the individuals in the relationship feel closer and more comfortable expressing their needs to one another. This ongoing sense of felt security deepens the relationship and creates a space for shared meaning. I am committed to walking alongside of you in your relationship with unconditional compassion and curiosity.
Areas of focus: reconnection, communication problems, conflict, repairing & healing a broken relationship, blended family, sexual intimacy, and parenting.
Methods of treatment: Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Emotionally Focused Family Therapy, and the Gottman Method.
